Murphy in the Morning, is the proud father of Andrew (20) and Connor (17). He has been the Morning Show Host at WIXX for 19 years. Murphy started his broadcast career as a part-timer at WIXX in 1980. He went on to work in Marquette, MI, Oshkosh, WI and then New Orleans, LA. Came to back home to WIXX from New Orleans in 1991. He was born and raised in the Village of Howard.
He comes to Dancing with the Stars with a ton of performing experience. Award Winning Swing Choir member at Bay Port. Only dancer here who has recorded his own album. At Bay Port High, he was voted “Most likely to be a Ballroom Dancer”. Weird how things work out huh? Also, while residing in Ishpeming, MI performed on an annual basis at the Alibi in Marquette, MI. Usually after softball, in full uniform. The “Worm” being his dance of choice.
Getting to know Murphy a bit more:
Describe your first dancing recollection. About how old were you and what was the occasion? Homecoming- Freshman year. Standing on the side asking myself, “what am I doing here?” Shockingly not one girl asked me to dance.
Who is your dream dance partner? Jennifer Lopez
Who is your favorite dancer of all time on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and why? Kym Johnson. Why? Have you seen Kym Johnson?
Why support the Red Cross with your participation? Great organization, terrific cause. When things go bad…they are always there first.
What’s your favorite song? That’s a hard one….have too many fav’s to name just one.
Hobbies or passions: Golf, work and my kid’s. Now we can add dancing!
