I am a Professional Land Surveyor owning and operating Soletski Surveying prior to opening CrossFit Green Bay in October of 2010. Since beginning the gym I have coached five teams/individuals to the CrossFit Games regional competition and in 2014 I took a team to the CrossFit Games finishing 27th in the world.
I joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 2013 and am part of the 2-127th Infantry Battalion. I love this country and ever since I watched the towers go down in September of 2001 it’s been in my heart that I needed to give back to my country so a month before the cutoff age of 35 years old I decided to join. It was pretty difficult starting my military career as a 35 year old man amongst a majority of 18-21 year old men but it’s something I wouldn’t trade for the world.
I have been married to Betsy Soletski for 16 years this coming May with a 17-year-old son, Zachary, 13-year-old daughter, Emma and a 9-year-old daughter Grace. I am passionate about never stopping learning new things and helping others accomplish things they in their mind think are unattainable. Love my family, love my Lord, Love my country, Love the Wisconsin National Guard and most importantly learning to Love to dance! The dancing part though is taking a bit of coaching from my amazing coach and partner Angela because just as I am passionate about helping others attain their hopes and dreams she is helping me attain this one!
I’ve always loved to dance. I have many fun memories of dancing with my girlfriends in my parents’ basement, of being on my high school and college dance teams, and of course learning about ballroom dancing from Terry at TC Dance club.
During the day, I’m a scientist at Kimberly-Clark where I design lotions and potions for their personal care product lines. Kimberly-Clark is very supportive of both my volunteer activities to organize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) events for kids and my pursuit of sustainability initiatives to reduce waste from our daily habits, as we all depend on this planet to eat, drink, breath, and live. After work, I enjoy teaching at Aerial Dance Pole Exercise, a fitness based studio for women (and men) to safely build strength and confidence through the aerial arts while having fun! In addition, I am working towards a Masters in Cosmetic Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati.
It’s difficult to pick out just one moment from DWOS 2017 that stands out, because there were so many great experiences. I had so much fun getting to know the rest of the 2017 DWOS participants and the Red Cross volunteers (I’m talking to you Barb, Sharon, Shawn, and Tara!), as well as seeing others in the community come together to support Team Vixens last year. But the one thing that stands out the most for me, was the emotional jolt I felt when my friend and Team Vixen partner from last year, Lusine Weitz, first shared with me her experiences with the Red Cross in the immediate aftermath of the tragic 1988 Armenian earthquake. That feeling of empathy serves as a constant reminder of why we are here. It isn’t to ‘win’ or to worry about what others think about us or our routine, it is to do what we can to help others in need.
Why did I decide to take part in DWOS All-Stars? Not only do I love to dance, I am honored to help raise money and bring awareness to the Red Cross and the work that they do for our community. Volunteering and supporting volunteer organizations are a part of how we show our compassion for each other and we reinforce our sense of community. That’s why I decided to participate in DWOS All-Stars, for when we help others, we truly get more out of it than we give. With this in mind I’d like to thank you for supporting this event and helping those in need in our community.
I have been married to my husband, Dana, for 17 years and together, we have four children; Alexandra, Broderick, his wife Kaeleigh and our twins, Gabrielle and Mason. It is with my family’s love and support that I am able to participate, once again, in Dancing with Our Stars, the All-Star Finale. When I am not training for DWOS or taking care of my clients and team, I enjoy running, biking, reading, traveling and attending all my children’s many activities. As Senior Vice President and Private Banking Group Manager at Associated Bank, I work with an amazing team that provides high-value products and services to our clients, while building long-lasting relationships. For the past eleven years I have been very fortunate to work for an organization that supports its colleagues to give back to the communities in which we serve. I am grateful for their support as I go through this journey once again.
Born and raised in this community, I am proud to be part of a place that is large enough to have its own NFL team but feels small enough to always come together and help those in need. I feel it is my duty to give back to the community that raised me which is why I am involved with our children’s activities, serve on the committee for the Gourmet Wishes Dinner, grant wishes on behalf of Make A Wish of Wisconsin and why I support the American Red Cross.
My favorite parts of the DWOS 2017 experience was the moment I realized that I could actually ballroom dance without falling and the moment I was announced as the team Mirror Ball winner for raising more than $65,000 with Chelsea Anderson for the Red Cross. At that moment, I realized the hard work was worth it. Through this experience, I have formed everlasting friendships that I will treasure for a lifetime.
Why did I decide to take part in DWOS All-Stars? First of all, I was honored to be considered a DWOS “All-Star” and was excited to join the team that is committed to raising the most dollars for the Red Cross. Supporting this organization is a necessity for our community and its mission is inspiring. By participating in the upcoming #DWOS18 and supporting the Red Cross, I feel I can, in some small way, contribute to a much larger mission to help many others in a time of crisis.
I am originally from New England but have been part of the Green Bay community for 17 years. It was my intention to eventually move back to the East Coast but after settling in and truly enjoying what this community has to offer, my husband, Jim, and I decided to make Green Bay our home. We enjoy live theater, traveling, hiking, and creating our own adventures. My beautiful daughter and 2017 Mirror Ball winner, Chelsea, is currently working on her Master’s Program for Hospital Administration at the University of North Carolina. We also have an energetic Weimaraner, Mitchell, which keeps us on our toes at all times.
As Senior Vice President and Private Banking Director at Associated Bank, I get to spend my time working with an amazing team of professionals. The special part about this team is that we all have a common goal to provide the best service to our clients and give back to our community while maintaining a healthy balance with what’s most important in life – our families. It is wonderful to work for an organization that allows their employees to give back to the community but it is extraordinary to work for a company that encourages and inspires you to do so.
The most amazing part of my DWOS 2014 experience was the lifelong friendships that were created by a group of individuals, working as a team, to reach our financial goal for the Red Cross. I truly think our team was unique as the bonds and friendships are still going strong. Collectively we raised over $500,000 for the Red Cross. That is definitely something to celebrate!
The biggest and most important motivation for me to participate in DWOS 2018 was to support the Red Cross. There are a million reasons to assist this incredible organization. The first reason that comes to mind is the quality education they deliver. Their classes provide the skills needed to respond to basically any emergency. Another reason the Red Cross is remarkable is their ability to help in times of crisis. Every time I read the paper or watch the news and hear of the lives affected by a natural disaster, I feel powerless because I want to help them all.
Supporting the Red Cross is my way of reaching out and helping the most people in need. To be able to raise funds for the Red Cross, while sharing this journey with my daughter, will truly be an incredible experience.
A special thanks to my family, friends, amazing daughter and wonderful husband for their support of my personal mission to help the Red Cross.
I’ve worked in broadcast journalism for more than 15 years. I’ve been with WBAY-TV since August 2005, and in 2010 was promoted to Fox Valley Bureau Chief.
After a year as a production assistant on “Special Edition” (now “MSNBC Investigates”), I accepted a job as a reporter at WENY-TV in upstate New York in 2001. A month later I was anchoring. In 2002, I led the team that produced, wrote and edited a 90-minute, commercial-free special commemorating the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, earning the New York State Associated Press Award, the station’s first AP award.
I’ve covered a lot of memorable stories, but my personal favorite was flying with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds when the elite aerobatic unit came to EAA AirVenture to perform for the first time in the summer of 2014.
A former Division I college soccer player, I still enjoy playing soccer today. I also volunteer for the American Red Cross, especially during the Dancing with Our Stars fundraisers.
And while I made Northeast WI my home, I’m originally from Pittsburgh and love to cheer for the Steelers. As they like to say in my hometown, you can take the girl out of Pittsburgh but you can’t take the Pittsburgh out of the girl!
What is my favorite moment from my two previous DWOS experiences? I don’t think there is one thing I don’t like about DWOS. But my favorite is probably the relationships I’ve built over the years with the other dancers and volunteers. It is seriously the BEST group of people EVER!!!
Why did I decide to take part in DWOS All-Stars? WHY NOT!!! This is not only such a fun event, but the good it does for those in Northeast WI is inspiring. I’ve done this twice before and I couldn’t NOT do it the final time.
I am an Indiana boy (born and raised) who grew up on the stage with music and theatre all my life! I moved to Madison in 2003 where I continued my theatre experience and put on my first pair of heels which launched my Drag career where I performed and completed regularly capturing numerous titles including Miss Gay Madison and the first alternate to Mr. Gay Wisconsin USofA. I met my partner of 10 years in the fall of 2006 at a dance event in Chicago. We caught each other’s eye from across the ballroom floor and the rest is history! We reside on Shawano Lake with our White German Shepherd, Jake. Professionally, I am the Learning & Development Manager for Innovative Services where I get to spend my days educating our amazing teams on how to make a difference in someone’s life! I am also blessed with amazing friends and family who have been by my side and supported me in all that I do.
My favorite moment from my initial DWOS experience is doing the POLKA WITH PETA!!!! My partner Bill danced the year before me and so my first official DWOS experience came with supporting and helping him. That year I won the “Polka with Peta” raffle and while never doing the polka before in my life, we managed to pull it off like we had rehearsed it…or so they said! My actual year dancing in DWOS, it was the amazing friends I got to meet and grow with! And my partner Mina was the BEST! She made me feel like a pro and allowed me to live my dream of being a ballroom dancer!
So many reasons why I decided to take part in DWOS All-Stars! The American Red Cross is such a worthy cause and does amazing work that I will continue to support any way that I can. The people that I have met the past 4 years and the relationships that have grown from it are priceless! There is a real sense of family and we all get to share in the fun and passion for dancing! This year is also my year to turn the tables and showcase my Drag persona who has been a huge part of DWOS the past 4 years with the MirrorBall Bash Drag Show Fundraiser. I get to showcase my passion for entertaining in front of one of the BEST crowds around! This year I leave it ALL on the dancefloor!
