There’s nothing like expression through movement.  At age four I took my first ballet class in Delafield, WI, and haven’t stopped dancing since.  My major of Environmental Policy and Planning and minor in Environmental Science brought me to UW Green Bay, where I fell in love with ballroom dance through UWGB’s club.  It’s my goal to work with fresh water resources combatting our world’s water crisis; ideally working in water conflict management and transformation internationally.

I instruct Zumba aerobic classes at the Kress Events Center, love sports and am enthusiastic about anything active.  This event marks the two and a half year point of my ballroom career in which I’ve earned State Champion titles, presidency position in club, and met people who mean the world to me.  Without them, I wouldn’t be here dancing in ways I had only dreamed of and for that I am so grateful.

It’s a great privilege to be supporting the American Red Cross Team through this event.  They do so much for our community, touching lives daily; this is a wonderful opportunity to share something that I love and make a difference doing it.  A big thank you to Bob Warpinski and Tommy Lemkuil for making this experience fantastic the first time around, and to Pat Warpinski for making it happen again; it means so much to share this with you.

Get to know our Dance Partners: Naomi Metz

Naomi currently attends Northeast Wisconsin Technical College majoring in Business Management with the aspiration of one day owning her own dance studio.  She started dancing in 2nd grade, taking classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern and Hip-Hop.  Dancing has been her passion ever since.

During her junior year in high school she realized she wanted to expand her knowledge of dance to include Ballroom and fell in love with it.  Naomi recently competed with Ivan Saleznev at the Ohio Star Ball in Columbus, Ohio and recalls it as the most amazing experience of her dancing career to date.  She will continue training and competing with Ivan, looking forward to see what lies ahead for her and her dancing.

This past school year has also been her first year as a Choreographer for the Denmark High School Dance Team.  Naomi has a burning desire to help other dancers grow as performers and individuals.  Whether it’s through improving their technique, pointing out their strengths, challenging them to push in areas of weakness, or helping them grow in their confidence and character, she desires for dancers to be their very best!

This is Naomi’s first year taking part in the Dancing with the Stars fundraiser.  She is very excited to be volunteering for such an amazing organization, and is blessed that she can use what she loves to do most to help.  She is hoping to make Murphy and Kurt’s Dancing With the Stars journey one that they will never forget.

Get to know our Dance Partners: Rane Cegelski

I’m born and raised in good old Green Bay WI. I’m currently attending NWTC and working for my General Studies Certificate and then going on to work towards my PhD in Psychology. I got involved with ballroom dancing from watching the first year of Dancing with our Stars as a volunteer, and of course watching the TV show Dancing with the Stars.

I’m a Wisconsin State Champion in both Latin and Smooth dances. And my favorite dances are the Foxtrot and Waltz because the elegance grace of the dances. But my all time favorite dance is the Jive because it fits my energetic and witty personality or, as my friends like to say I have coffee in my blood.

I support the Red Cross as a blood donor (2 Gal. Donor) and because of the variety of services that they provide. I’m certified in services such as Lifeguard, CPR/AED and Water Safety Instructor and soon to be an instructor for Lifeguard and CPR/AED and Fist Aid.

My hobbies are swimming, I was on the Green Bay United Mens High School team, I also played Varsity Volleyball for 3 years for Preble/East. And of course music and dancing is my main hobby. And I love working with kids especially when I’m teaching the swim lessons or coaching them.

Meet the Dance Partners: Taylor Watry

artessence, LLC

I am 19 years old and currently attend The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I am going to school for my Undergraduate Degree in Athletic Training, a minor in Psychology and Dance, and eventually Graduate School for Physical Therapy. I have been figure skating for 9 years and have been singing and dancing in show choirs for 7 years. The arts are a passion of mine and I couldn’t live life without music or dancing. I grew up here in Green Bay, Wisconsin and have a sister, Danielle. I first got into dancing when I was three years old and I took tap and jazz. Without dancing, skating, and the support of my family I wouldn’t be who I am today. I’m really proud of John Allen and Dean Lindsley and couldn’t have asked for better partners. Go Buckeyes!

I first started ballroom dancing 2 years ago. I first got into ballroom right after the first Dancing With Our Stars event. I was just helping out by selling flowers and to watch the dancers because dancing is a passion of mine. I thought it was so amazing and I immediately had to start. I have participated in many competitions including: State (in Milwaukee), Madison Competition, and the Green Bay Competition.

I did really well and took first in all of my events at the state Competition just nine lessons after I started. It was such a thrill and I am proud to be a part of the DanceSport of Green Bay Studio.

Working with the Red Cross is such a great opportunity. They help save lives and it is just an amazing program. I love that we work with them since I am planning on working in the medical field.
