The newest group of “star dancers” for the American Red Cross Dancing with our Stars fundraiser was unveiled Tuesday, October 4 at a kickoff party sponsored by Festival Foods. For the first time in its nine-year history, DWOS recruited teams to compete in the event in addition to its traditional individual participants. These 16 people (a record number of participants for DWOS) will now spend the next five months each learning one ballroom dance which they will perform at Dancing with our Stars 2017. That event will take place Saturday, February 25th in the grand ballroom of the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay. Dancing with our Stars is now in its ninth year and it has been a sold-out event each year. Not only do those in attendance support local efforts, so can those not attending as the “star dancers” receive votes in the form of donations to the Red Cross. One dollar equals one vote. Donations can be made now at this website: http://crowdrise.com/dancingwithourstars/
All funds raised support disaster prevention, preparation and relief, the life-saving training of first aid, CPR/AED classes, collection and testing of blood and blood products, support to military members serving around the globe and international programs.
DWOS 2016 raised more than $200,000 for the local Red Cross. Karen Classon, Owner of SKB Management, took home the Fundraising Mirror Ball Trophy after raising $87,000.
DanceSport of Green Bay, Simply Ballroom of Green Bay, TC Dance Club of Appleton and Arthur Murray Dance Centers – Madison & Sun Prairie are the participating professional dance partners for the event.
BayTek Games, Festival Foods, Green Bay Packaging, Green Bay Packers, Nature’s Way, Sanimax, Schneider, SKB Management, Tundraland, WBAY-TV 2, 101 WIXX and 94.3 JackFM are proud sponsors of Dancing with our Stars 2017.
