Donald Driver Returns for LOCAL “Dancing with Our Stars”

The last champion of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, returns to the dance floor — as his wife Betina’s professional partner in a local American Red Cross fund-raiser.

Betina and Donald Driver will be one of nine celebrity couples competing in the ARC’s “Dancing With Our Stars” event Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay.

Action 2 News Valley Bureau Chief Emily Matesic is another one of the nine local celebrities set to compete in the event.

The complete dance card will be revealed at an invitation-only kick-off party on October 25.

Betina Driver and her celebrity dance partner have plenty to live up to. Donald Driver brought home the treasured Mirror Ball trophy on the 14th season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” famously appearing shirtless in one of the competitions.

The local “Dancing with Our Stars” is in its 5th year. Information about ticket sales will be available in January.

The fund-raising event has sold out each year. In addition to ticket sales, the general public can vote for their favorite local celebrity in the form of donations to the Red Cross. Every dollar equals one vote.

The funds raised support disaster prevention, preparation and relief, the life-saving training of first aid, CPR/AED classes, collection and testing of blood and blood products, support to military members serving around the globe, the transportation program and international programs.

“Dancing with Our Stars” is also sponsored by the Green Bay Packers, the Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Oneida Nation, Festival Foods, Schneider National, WBAY-TV, and WIXX.
