Get to Know: Kate Burgess

My name is Kate Burgess and I am the President/CEO of FulfillNet.

I grew up in Glenbeulah, WI, a very small town outside of Elkhart Lake. It was a great childhood experience — everyone knew everybody. As a young girl, I worked at the local grocery store and babysat.  Receiving my babysitting license was my first recollection of the American Red Cross.  Following Elkhart Lake High School, I went to Marquette University, graduated and worked in Milwaukee for several years. In 1994, I began working for a company in Appleton and traveled for two years in a semi truck with my husband, Tom. We landed in Green Bay in 1997, started FulfillNet, and fell in love with the community. We are blessed with three wonderful children, Emily, Maddy, Ben and our dog Roxy.

My family, Tom, Emily, Maddy and Ben, my work family, my friends, my customers, and my community, are all part of my passion for people. I believe that life is all about constant learning, having fun and moving it forward.

I first remember dancing when I was 5 years old. I took tap and ballet lessons. It didn’t last long — a season — and I remember the beautiful costume we wore for the recital.  It was red with fringe and a black top hat. I loved it!

My dream dance partner would have to be my husband Tom, who introduced me to ballroom dancing when we were in high-school at his cousin’s wedding. I really wasn’t sure what do to; he said, “Follow me.”

Our family is a military family.  From World Wars to current conflicts, our family has been involved and family members currently serve in the armed forces.  Our connection with the military as well as the HOPE that the American Red Cross represents is something I want to help with and give what I can to “move it forward.”
