I’m a Wisconsin native and grew up in the little town of Rosendale where 30 mph means 30 mph. If you happen to forget, be sure to pick up a t-shirt in the local gas station that say’s “Rosendale – That’s the ticket!” My wife, Sandy, and our little Westie, Dickens, spent 16 years living in the land of purple and are thrilled to be back in eastern Wisconsin where people bleed green and gold!
I went to college at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse where I danced all night in a dance marathon for MDA. My dance career really began when I was a kid in front of our old black and white TV on Sunday afternoons. My mom would call me into the living room to polka and waltz. I was a real hit at all of the area wedding dances! After college, I landed a job working for a national tour operator. Along with sales management, I went out on tours as a tour manager. On motorcoaches, cruise ships, trains and planes I stumbled my way around the world. Perhaps the keen sense of balance I developed will keep me from stumbling across the dance floor! We can only hope!!
I work with a great bunch at the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau. I’m a little surprised they were able to talk me into Dancing With The Stars, but they have already begun organizing “Team Toll” and I’m certain it will be a fun and exciting (and hopefully, injury free) ride!
I’m also thrilled to be supporting the American Red Cross. Every time a tragedy is reported on the evening news, the American Red Cross can be seen aiding those in need, whether they are in Haiti, Pakistan, California, Oklahoma or just down the street. It is an amazing organization and I’m proud to be associated with them through this fun event.
Getting to know Brad…
Describe your first dancing recollection. About how old were you and what was the occasion? Thanks to my mom, I was a young polka master on the floor at every wedding dance I attended. She and I would dance around the living room during Sunday polka shows on TV.
Who is your dream dance partner? I would love to take my 85 year old mom for a spin around the floor! A recent fall has made that a bit difficult, but I promise to go slow!
Who is your favorite dancer of all time on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and why? I have two – Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno. It was amazing to see how quickly these athletes could pick up the dances and perform them so flawlessly.
Why support the Red Cross with your participation? The American Red Cross is truly an amazing organization. The help they provide reaches far and wide. A visit to their website tells the tales of how they are helping flood victims in Wisconsin and Minnesota, fire victims in Green Bay, responding to help hurricane victims in the Caribbean, wildfire victims in Utah, flood victims in Pakistan . . . there are no boundaries when it comes to the support and relief provided by the American Red Cross. We never know what twists and turns life may deliver, but we can always be assured that the American Red Cross will have our back.
What’s your favorite song? Whatever is playing!
