I think those Daddy/Daughter Dances are Paying Off!

Dean Lindsley: Vice President of Operations & Product Development, Pallas Textiles- Division of KI

I was born and raised locally, in West DePere, and currently reside in Green Bay.  I am married to my wife Julie for almost 20 years and we have a beautiful daughter Grace (10).  I have been employed for the past 23 years at KI and I am currently the VP of Operations and Product Development for their high end textile division, Pallas Textiles.

My first dancing recollection goes back to 8th grade graduation. The school I attended, St. Boniface, brought in Shirley Van to teach all of us students the basics of dance.  She taught us the fundamentals of the Waltz, the Cha Cha, the Jitterbug and who could forget, disco moves.  This was when Saturday Night Fever and John Travolta, aka Tony Manero, were making disco dancing popular back in 1978.

When I first started dating my wife, Julie, we would go out on weekends and end up somewhere on the dance floor.  It wasn’t anything formal, just crazy, off-the-wall fun.  These days my attention has turned to my wonderful daughter Grace, who has batted her puppy dog eyes at me and convinced me for the past three years to get up on stage at the local Meyer Theater with her for the Annual Northern Dance Academy Daddy/Daughter dance.  I wouldn’t say the dads’ get strong marks for technical dancing, but the entertainment value certainly goes a long way with the crowd.

To date, Nicole Scherzinger was my favorite dancer on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.  She was the complete package.  By this I mean that she was the triple threat: she could sing, she could dance, and she was “HOT”.  I am not sure I can add much more to the story than that.  Oh yeah, by the way, did I mention she was hot?

Prior to being approached by the American Red Cross, I was always being challenged with the question of how to give more of my time, talent and money to worthy causes.  So when the American Red Cross asked if I would participate, I agreed because I was able to package all 3 of these pieces together.  I’m not certain how much of the talent portion I will create in this case, but I certainly will give a significant amount of my time and do my best to raise money for this commendable organization.

Choosing my favorite song definitely depends on which era we are talking about because I enjoy listening to all types of music.  I was, and still am’ a big fan of classic rock, such as Boston and Def Leppard.  I also like rock music such as Chris Daughtry and Nickleback, but I also enjoy some modern pop, like Usher.

In my spare time, I really enjoy doing anything outdoors.  I am an avid hunter and spend many hours in the woods of Northern Wisconsin.  I also grew up with a passion for golf.  While my game is not as good as I would like it to be, I still enjoy the challenge of the game.  I am a devoted cyclist.  But when things slow down in the winter months my artistic side kicks in!  I enjoy picking up a sketch pad and pencil to draw with my daughter Grace.

  1. Deano-real SMOOOOOOOOOTH- of course if you are smiling on the dance floor I’m not sure anyone will be looking at your feet. Keep up the great work-cannot wait to see the final result-what is Mindy’s studio putting in the water to produce such fine dancers?
